Couple years ago in High School I was diagnosed with PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome). When I first started my period I was in second form (8th grade) in the month of September. I didn't get another period until the following year around August and that was about 10 months without a period. Shocking!, I know … but I wasn't too concerned about it at that time until a few years after i started getting my period on and off and decided to actually take some time to educate myself about this thing called PCOS. Upon reading and getting more info on google and YouTube I realized that it was affected me in many ways and I didn't even know it was because of me having PCOS. I thought it was normal being tired all the time, low energy, fatigued, not remembering stuff (big or small) , hot flashes, acne, recurring yeast infections, facial hair, bloating, gaining weight and a lot more symptoms came along. I stared to feel so scared because of all the symptoms being told that I might not have kids or it can be very hard to have one. There would be days I broke down crying because of it and the fact that I can't eat all that I want and having to read the labels of my food was just too much for me, Long story short, I knew I had to find a way to manage my symptoms because I hated feeling this way and hated going to the doctor to be placed on pills to regulate my cycles.
